Just suddenly, today, this song popped up, in my auto-playlist. It brought a whole lot weigh of memories. It was the night I worked very late my first office job, as an marketing intern. I shared this song to my mentor. She said “Why did you bring up this song? I just can’t listen to it anymore”. I didn’t get what she meant. At that time, I guessed it was something related with her relationship (boy-girl the kind of).
At that time, what I understood from this song was a story between 2 people going through a tough time. One is completely idle or frozen. The other one is climbing the mountain high carrying the weigh of all his burdens while trying to navigate where the mountain is in a long foggy landscape. An impossible situation that no one wants to be in, even in your imagination.
Yet, one line of this song’s lyrics caught me well

And I guess, this caught me very well. I was back home from the US, living the life between 9-5 in an office while remembering or missing my freedom in the Grand Canyon – the life blended with nature, in a timeless state. At that time, the song got me, it asked me to whether I should find a way to get back to the States or should I find a career as everybody else.
What really matters? What’s the difference?
Both states at that time didn’t give me much the answer of who I was what I wanted. I guess. But the choice to be home, with family, with something to explore and learn further might lead me somewhere different. Then I can go anywhere I want, again, to explore anything I want, wider or deeper. So then I stayed HOME. I’m glad I made that decision.
Isn’t it a coincidence that today I got a call from 2 friends from Grand Canyon time? They are united in Australia. A friendship for 11 years. WOW!!!
